Notes and Why My Website Suuuuuucks

-screen based reading is more about main points than details
-annotating has not migrated to the screen
-the fragmentary nature of hypertext is threatening sustained reading
-users only read 28% of info on first visit
-hyperlink texts are used more than the back button
-users read in an F-shaped pattern
-first across the top
-then a second horizontal movement lower down the page
-and then a vertical movement up the side
-the first two paragraphs must be the most important
-authors of hypertexts often break up long single document works with "next" links
-use a consisten design for each page
-don't expect users to use the back button
why my website sucks
1. site does not look professional
2. didn't put design elements where users expect them to be
3. the man from mars can't quickly find the focal point of my pages
