Hypertxt idea-

Gays and lesbian marriage has been a conflict of interest for quite some time now. Why is it such a big deal if they want to get married? They are people too, right? Everyone, whether gay or straight, should have he right to get married. We are in a new day in age, now, and change has been apparent in the last century. Gays and lesbians should have the right to get married hassle-free, just like everyone else.

There are many stakeholders in this issue. There are the gays and lesbians, non-homophobes, homophobes, religious people, and military men. Still, it all comes down to those who are fine with gays and lesbians getting married and those who aren't. Generalizations of those who don't agree with the marriage usually are religious, in the military, or homophobic. Both of these groups believe it's just not humane or normal. Christians believe it is against the words of the Bible because the Bible states that marriage is a bonding of a man and a woman. I've even heard that Christians want the bonding, if legalized, to be called something other than "marriage." The homophobes are afraid or hate gays and lesbians, in general. This hate leads to a lash out of aggression and built up anger, both leading to violent acts, at times. Military men have tried to have the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," policy repealed because lesbians and gays were being looked at as a weakness or a security risk. If they were straight though, it wouldn't be an issue, technically. The other side of the spectrum includes non-homophobes and the gays and lesbians themselves. They both think that gays and lesbians should have the right to get married. Non-homophobes either don't care what happens, or they actually believe that the marriage should be allowed. Gays and lesbains have the most passionate view in the sense that this is actually for them. They want the right to finialize their partnership the way straight couples do. Equality is questioned in their minds at times because of all the chaos this has been causing.

Gay marriage is an important issue that drives much controversy from all sides, and it is something we need to look more into and allow. They are people just like the rest of us and nothing less - but equal. We can't keep fighting against love, even if between man-and-man or woman-and-woman. It's time for change; it's time for equality.
