The Yippies&punk&Dolores Umbridge in relation to Little Brother

The "Yippies", also known as Youth International Party, is mentioned in the literature because Marcus formed a similar group with related ideals. The Yippies was a radical youth group who also believed in anarchy. One of the modes in which the Yippies expressed their beliefs was through street protests. In one of their anti-war protests, the Yippies invaded a well-known social area: Disneyland. Another similarity that the Yippies have with Marcus is their interest in mocking the system and authority. By nominating a pig for U.S. president in 1968, the Yippies were making fun of society and the joke that it has become. It is suitable for punk rock music to be playing at the large concert because punk is a genre that is often related to rebellion. The origin of punk rock was as exotic new style of music that was not readily accepted by all. The sound of the music genre and the fashion styles associated with punk are seen as opposition against government and authoritative figures. Dolores Umbridge is a professor in the Harry Potter series that can be paralled to authoritative figures in Marcus' school. For example, Marcus' new teacher is similar to Dolores Umbridge because she is very condescending to younger people. In the Harry Potter series, Umbridge gave her students cruel punishments such as detention and other painful acts. In Little Brother, Marcus' new teacher sent Marcus to the principle even though he was simply participating in the debate.
