Types of Quoting by JT

In my opinion this test is a true demonstration of whether students care about what their writing, and even more specifically if they feel quotes are necessary. When a number of total citations is given it forces students to meet a requirement as opposed to strengthen an argument with their quotations.

Personally, I believe that I make the mistake of smash-and-grab techniques in a paper when I am forced to make unneeded quotations. When the paper is left open to having quotes or not, on the other hand, I find myself spending much more time researching the relevance of a quote and the benefits of having it. Also, I believe that I make myself fully understand the quotations when they are more then just a requirement.

As of right now, however, I still use about 40% ‘patchwriting’, 25% paraphrasing, 20% exact copying, and 15% true blue summary.
