Topic Proposal

For my topic proposal, I am thinking about investigating whether or not there should be a constant battle of complacency between the government and the people that are part of the nation. I am interesting is finding out if it is better to have obedient and under control citizens or to have a constant battle of ideas and strife between government and citizens. The way I see it is that if citizens are completely complacent, then the government could do whatever they desire without any interference. On the other hand, strife between citizen and government can cause unnecessary blockage in policy formation and can hinder the political process. But without such strife against the government, new ideas and policies would not be created in order to cater to everyone's needs. Also if there is complacency in a nation, then the government will be able to enact policies that potentially be beneficial or detrimental to the people. It all depends on the leaders that are elected by the people.
