Topic Proposal

I want to address the cost/benefit of standing up for what you believe in as a teen in American society. Our culture is one composed of daily fads and stereotypical goodness. We as a people define success and well being in life by the money they make and how they show it. A stress on appearance has quickly become one of the most vastly recognizable traits of American media and technology and youth today suffer from it. Less and less do we realize what it means to have an identity and less and less does it seem that our generation cares. By standing up for what we believe in even if we stand alone we are proving by example that we are not the composition of commercials and top selling magazines, we are our own selves.
