Yippies, FSM, and punk

Yippies, the free speech movement and punk are all related in that the movements involve young students or teenagers. Yippies, otherwise known as the Youth International Party was a "radically youth-oriented" group who were mostly anti-authoritarian and anarchist and was a highly theatrical group that liked to pull politcally themed pranks. Similarly, the free-speech movement occured on the college campus of UC Berkeley which was a student protest that focused on gaining the right for on campus political activities and the acknowledgement of their free speech and academic freedom. Punk is a subculture that includes many forms of expression including punk music. Punk music had many anti-establishment and political themed lyrics. All of these movements and themes are relevant to Little Brother. Marcus and his friends are similar to Yippies because of their fight against the status norm and government. His fight includes similar themes from the free speech movement and the sublculture of punk is seen through Trudy Doo and the Rave.
