Emma Goldman was a woman who became an anarchist, that is, a person who believes that society should have no laws, government, police, or any kind of authority. She became known as a woman who played a major role in not only anarchism, but for women's rights as well. After being released from prison, Emma Goldman began to participate in the women's suffrage and birth control movements. These along with the idea of anarchism were all opposed by the government at the time. By the time she died, she was remembered as a strong woman who questioned authority and stood up for people's rights in all parts of the world.
Anarchism is the idea that society should have no government, laws, police, or authority. Marcus becomes an anarchist after his first experience with the DHS. He realized that the government was getting out of control and knew that they were not doing anything to solve the problems that the city was faced with. Marcus chose to be an anarchist because he felt that he would be able to do a better job of bringing back peace to San Francisco than the government could.
Anarcha-feminism combines anarchism with feminism, the establishment of equal rights for women. I personally view this idea of anarcha-feminism not to be as important as simply anarchism. Anarcha-feminists believe that the lack of government will result in equal rights for women.
