For my remix project, I decided to create a poem about Marcus’ view of authority. In my poem, there are three different stanzas that depict Marcus’ feelings about the shift in power and the events that he went through, particularly with the DHS. The first stanza focuses on the beginning of the literature when Marcus believes that he is powerful and even more powerful than school authorities. Marcus is so strong headed, that he talks back to his principal and questions his principal’s intelligence. The second stanza focuses on how Marcus feels about the DHS and what they did to him. Through the interrogations and time spent in jail, there is a shift of power from Marcus to the DHS. In the third stanza, Marcus expresses his thoughts about his friend Darryl and what to do in reaction. Marcus shows that he will get revenge on the DHS and that no one can take away his entitled authority.
